I am TIRED of Consulting
There, I said it...Pretty sobering thought, considering this is what I do for a living. This is my "bread and butter." But, I am...
For the past 6 years now, I have been working as a consultant with various organizations, helping them with many different things. The fact that I have been blessed with this opportunity is beyond me...Certainly a gift from God. I have been given the opportunity to work with great people and great organizations that serve great purposes. To say this work has been fulfilling is, by far, an understatement.
However, like I stated above, I am tired of consulting. It seems like nowadays, everyone is a consultant, whether be some guy who knows how to build an awesome website or someone who is temporarily unemployed and just trying to make ends meet until they find their next job, the market is saturated. Nonprofit organizations, as a matter of fact all organizations, are inundated with information from all types of consultants, slinging their services. Not saying they don't do good work, but...Where do you even begin to determine who is going to the best job for you? And, are they going to be around in the long-term to stand behind their work?
So what is the purpose of my rant?
The problem with all of this, is we have created an environment where we just go out and look for someone to do the work for us because services for ANYTHING are so available. We seek to have someone who claims to know it all, come in and take care of business and then we think everything will be fixed, successful, integrated, implemented, etc...You get my point.
However, in my experience working with all the organizations I have, the best results have come from those who had a good, solid core group of people who worked together, taking the advice and concepts I gave them and applying it all themselves. They didn't need me to do the work for them. They may have thought they did, but they didn't. All they needed me to do is provide them some bit of direction and let them run, while I coach them along the way. Granted, there are some phases of this process that required some objective approaches and viewpoints that only I, an unbiased 3rd party, could provide. However, overall, they actually made it happen themselves.
The term consultant has been misinterpreted as a person or organization who will come in and do it for you because you can't. NO! That is the furthest thing from the truth...You can. In fact, the actual definition of consultant (if you Google "Consultant Definition") is, "A person who provides expert advice professionally." Simple...You just need a bit of help and then you can be on your way.
Therefore I am ready to quit consulting and begin Changing...Instead of consultant I want to be a Change Agent.
You may think this is cheesy, but frankly, I don't care. There's a better way to increase the impact and grow the mission of nonprofit organizations. It's time we change the way the game is played.
This is why Caldwell Business Group is committed to an exciting and revolutionary initiative. At this time, we are calling it ImpactLaunch.
We are in the process of developing a system that will provide our clients with the blueprints, foundations and maps to achieve their particular goal, and then we coach them along the way to implementation.
This is a system that will primarily be structured as a 6-8 week process to allow clients to establish momentum and forge the path forward on whatever initiative they are focused on. During this process, we will help along the way, providing training, expert coaching and offering access to our established templates, systems and processes. It's a hybrid approach to training and consulting that will create amazing results.
This new system will provide a cost effective approach to establishing frameworks in fundraising, strategy and planning, special projects, board development, human resource development and much more.
It will allow you to achieve your goals and experience success within your organization because you have developed and implemented proven structures. You will be enabled to establish efficiency and actually run your organization in the organized professional way you, and your donors, have always desired.
Obviously, there will always be a need for some direct service work, and we will continue to offer such services (Click Here to learn more). But we are excited about this new opportunity, not for us, but for you.
As a part of the developmental phase of this project we are currently surveying nonprofit leaders to ensure that the content we offer is addressing needs that ACTUALLY matter. (Click HERE to participate yourself.)
We will also be offering some Beta testing opportunities to a select few organizations. If you have an interest let us know by clicking HERE.
